Danger Looms In Nigeria Over Peaceful Protest As UK Parliament Propose Bill Giving Police 'Sweeping Power'
Nigeria State is well known for its use of lethal force in the violation of human rights to peaceful protest. It became worsened since the inception of Mohammed Buhari-led government, as clampdown on peaceful protesters has continued unabated.
It is on record how the body language and precedents of Buhari's administration has opposed peaceful protests ranging from clampdown on IPOB members to Shiites Muslims to EndSARS protesters respectively.
Recently and ongoing, the UK Parliament is proposing a bill seeking to give Police the sweeping power – including the power to shut down peaceful protests
This was disclosed in a tweet on Wednesday, by Amnesty International, AI, calling on every right thinking individuals to take action now to stop the bill.
"A new Bill giving police sweeping powers - including the power to shut down peaceful protests - is going through UK Parliament. Take action now and call to stop the assault on freedom."_AI tweeted

Invariably, Nigeria, as a member of the UK Commonwealth Nations, will be influence immensely with the ongoing bill if approved.
However and contrary to UK Parliamentary proposal, two U.S congressmen, Al Green and Joaquin Castro have pushed for the re-introduction of the #EndSARS resolution for the 117th Congress which they termed the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act of 2021.
A part of the resolution reads, "This is in part why I and Congressman Joaquin Castro have re-introduced our resolution in support of the #EndSARS movement in Nigeria. We understand the importance of sending a strong message that the ongoing events in Nigeria are of international concern, because Black lives matter, wherever they may be in the world"._Al Green said
