Governors Dave Umahi, Ugwuanyi, Others Are All ESN "Deputy Commanders" For Standing Beside Me In A Picture – Nnamdi Kanu Taunts Nigerian Army
The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has taunted the Nigerian Army over it recent report claiming it had arrested the Second-in-Command to Ikonso, the late ESN unit Commander.
The Nigerian Army apparently based it's intelligence on the perceptions that "hence Mr Eze, the abductee, once took picture standing beside Nnamdi Kanu, the IPOB leader, that somehow he might be a top notch IPOB member"
The Army went on to publish the picture where Eze stood beside Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, to make it report gain tenability.
JournalReporters had earlier reported the allegation by the Nigerian Army that it had arrested Second-in-Comnand to the late Ikonso, ESN Unit Commander
The Director, Army Public Relations, Brig. Gen Mohammed Yerima in a release said, “The Second-in-Command to the neutralised IPOB/ESN terrorist leader Ikonso, Awurum Eze, has been arrested by security operatives in Aba, Abia State.
“The 48-year-old Awurum Eze, a native of Umoneke Nta, Isiala-Mbano LGA, Imo State, had on the 4th of May, 2021 escaped when operatives of Intelligence Response Team (IRT) stormed his village house in Isiala Mbano where he was hiding.
“Intensive manhunt was thereafter launched towards tracing and arresting him. He was eventually apprehended on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, in Aba after weeks of unrelenting follow-ups by operatives.
Reacting in a press statement on Thursday, IPOB stated "If you arrest or kill Ikonso's Second-in-Command, we will not hesitate to admit it just the same way we did not deny the murder of Ikonso."
IPOB debunked Army's report as false, made it clear that no ESN Commander or deputy was arrested.
Kanu who deemed the Army's report as mischievous however on Friday published the picture where he posed with the Eastern Governors – Dave Umahi, Ugwuanyi and others standing beside him and asked if they are also ESN "deputy Commanders"?
