BREAKING: INEC declares Osun election inconclusive.
Local news, Politics The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared the result of the Osun gubernatorial election inconclusive. The returning officer of the election, Adeola Fuwape in an address on Sunday, September 23 said based on the outcome of the result which ended with a slim margin between the two leading parties, the Peoples |Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress, the election was inconclusive.
He said a new date will be announced for the election rerun. The final result as announced by INEC APC - 254, 345 PDP - 254, 698 SDP - 138,048 ADC - 7681 ADP - 4972 According to the returning officer, some irregularities were recorded in the election. He said: We had issues in some polling units. Unit 001 had a problem of ballot box snatching and 393 votes were cancelled. At unit 004, there was snatching of ballot and 387 votes were cancelled At Ife south local government, there was cancellation of election due to problem of card reader malfunctioning. At unit 010, there were 502 registered voters. At Oyeretu ife north, there were called elections. 51 people were accredited while 252 votes were cast. At Osogbo, unit 017, there was a case of ‘abscondment’ by the presiding officer. Number of registered voters was 884.
