Nigerian Government Will Only Regulate Social Media, Not Shutting It Down - Lai Mohammed.

Lai Mohammed who is the Current Minister of Information and Culture, on Thursday stated that the Nigerian government has no intention of shutting down social media but only going to regulate it activities.

Lai Mohammed when addressing the press conference in Abuja, said that social media was used wrongly during the ENDSARS protest.

He said the government would only work with stakeholders to regulate the social media activities in the country.

Nigerians have already rejected plans by the government to regulate the social media, insisting that it will infringe on citizens’ rights to freedom of expression.
