Hersmen Crisis: Search For Possible laws To Address The Issues__Senate President, Lawan Urges Colleagues
President of the Nigerian Senate, Ahmad Lawan says National Assembly is still in dialogue with the presidency and other relevant bodies on how to tackle the security challenges in the country.
Mr. Lawan, who spoke at plenary session on Tuesday, said the Fulani herdsmen crisis is a major concern to all citizens.
“We will continue to work with the executive arm of government to mitigate and end these challenges,” Mr. Lawan told fellow senators as they resumed from their long recess. “Distinguished colleagues, the very recent emergence of inter-ethnic and inter-tribal conflicts in some parts of our country is worrisome.”

Going further, Senate leader, Lawan urged his colleagues to come up with laws that could nip the challenges in the bud.
“Political leaders are problem solvers. As parliamentarians, we should search for possible legislation to address the issues that tend to create tensions amongst our people,” he said.
“We are going to consult and partner with all arms and tiers of governments, in our quest to find lasting solutions to these ugly developments,” Mr. Lawan assured.
Nigerians have since excoriated the legislature for being docile in the heat of the Fulani herdsmen crisis which threatened the unity of the country in the past weeks.
