Workers under the aegis of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC), have vowed to shut down the economy if the house of representative passes a bill intended to move the minimum wage legislation from Exclusive List to Concurrent List.
The national president of the Nigeria Labour Congress,Mr.Ayuba Wanna, who led members of the Organization to the House of Representatives on Wednesday,March 10th,vowed that the Organized Labour would resist any passage of the proposed Legislation.
The bill, sponsored by Mr.Garba Datti Mohammad, scaled second reading at plenary of house of reps presided by speaker of house,Femi Gbajabiamiala.
It seems to alter the 1999 constitution (as amended) to among others, transfer the subject matter of minimum wage prescription from the exclusive legislative list, set out under part 1 of the second schedule, to the concurrent legislative list set out under part 11 of the second schedule of constitution.
