The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto, Matthew Kukah, during a talk show with academic and historian, Toyin Falola, on Sunday, had suggested that Nigeria should be retained by all means as one entity, saying that "nobody stands to gain from Nigeria's disintegration".

The Catholic Bishop also asserted that the diversity in Nigeria is a sign of strength and the will God. He further stated, “I don’t think any Nigerian, in his right sense, should pretend nothing binds us together.

Kukah's message, however, has been disparaged by many oppressed Nigerians and online users who tend to be convinced, of recent, that the Bishop is a direct beneficiary of the awkwardness of Nigeria state.

Nigeria over the last few years has continued to witness increasing spate of insecurity, injustice, corruption, state sponsored terror and Fulani bandits attacks which had led to the call for Nigeria's disintegration by many oppressed ethnicities in Nigeria, like the Biafra and Oduduwa agitators.

Following Kukah's statement, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu had entreated on Catholics all over the world to call Kukah to order or he (Kanu) will place a curse on him.

Kanu expressed worry why such utterance is coming from a man he has enormous regard and respect for, nonetheless, "Kukah's  recent statement will cast him on the dark shade if he doesn't retrace his steps"._kanu said

Like the IPOB Leader, many Nigerians have decried the Bishop's call to keep Nigeria one, noting that the only gain anybody can benefit from one Nigeria is being a bandit because government can only compensate you or strike peace deal with you when you're a terrorist.

Journal Reporters have been following trends and reactions of many online users who have feigned at Kukah's utterances, others have also cautioned the Bishop to stay clear of any undertaking that will mar or dent his repute and respect he has earned from them since the last decades.
