Citizenship is a covenant in which the State provides protection and inclusion in return for allegiance. In Nigeria, there is neither protection, nor inclusion, especially for certain parts. A certain petite ethnicity, the Fulani hegemony, tends to posses arbitrary power over others and so intimidation, coercion and retribution became the instrument of fostering unity in the country.
In Inis era, it is very risky to be a Nigerian. Nigerian youths are not allowed to engage in peaceful protest without military presence to quell them. The dilapidated situation of Obigbo (Oyigbo) suburb of River State, Nigeria; the ongoing perscution and execution of Obigbo occupants and Igbo Jewish adherents; the destruction of Synagogues orchestrated by the Nigeria Military forces under the auspices and permission of the despotic governor of River state, Nyesom Wike; the menaces of Fulani herders and Islamist militia are undertakings which come with severe consequences and poses threat to the continuous cohabitation. What is the essence of being a Nigerians.
The U.S Department of State has, on Monday 7th December, 2020, added Nigeria in its blacklist as one of the countries involved in severe violation of religious freedom.
Reacting to all these anomalies, the leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra, a Separatist movement in Nigeria, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has issued a statement stressing that unity is consensual, not something achieved by intimidation, torture, extra judicial execution of Biafra agitators or opposition of one Nigeria.
"Killing citizens for #OneNigeria is a contradiction. China & Taiwan get along as ‘2 Chinas’. Same for North & South Korea. It’s genocidal to keep a nation united by FORCE. Unity is consensual. Going further, the IPOB leader elucidates the triumph of Self Determination, an inalienable right of people, over every other things thus.
"#SelfDetermination does not require any legal justifications. It only requires the collective will of a people to be Independent. Ancient Rome once ruled the entire planet but in time, self determination triumphed & hundreds of nations were borne. #Biafra shall emerge! Soon!"

More so, two United States experts (Kaplan and Schroeder) have summed up the level of intimidation in Nigeria,
“In Nigeria, life is a zero-sum game that adds up to an aggressive, predatory system of survival of the fittest. A place where life is too often a matter of who can intimidate whom.” _____ US experts
All these confirms to the fact that Nigeria can never continue to exist by coercion. When unattainable, dissolution of the entity becomes inevitable.
