How Kanu's Warning Plays Out In Yoruba Land

Did Kanu forewarned the Yoruba journalists the danger of romancing Fulani Janjaweedism?

Over the decades, the western region of Nigeria - the Yoruba land, no doubt, is one of the regions that has experienced peaceful scene, free of Fulani terror and so Kanu's warning, at that moment, was received in same manner with Noah's message of impending flood.

The recent altercation, fracases, show of disapproval between the Yoruba nation and the Fulani controlled Nigeria government is the aftermath of a prophetic warning unheeded to. Kanu had warned but his words were assumed irrelevant.

Prior to now, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, who is the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra had warned, in numerous radio broadcast, that the Yoruba nation will face severe security challenges should some sections of Yoruba journalists and those he described as "relevant seeking politicians" continue in romancing Fulani janjaweedism in a bid to attain political feat, promotion or relevance.

Kanu's description of Fulani Janjaweedism is the numerous terror, pains, banditry, extra judicial execution inflicted on hapless Nigerians from other regions by hegemonic Fulani terrorist tribe, masquerading as herders. Howbeit, there was little or no report, in terms of accuracy, promptness and vast coverage, of atrocities by the Nigeria media, mainly controlled by Yoruba people.

Kanu, who argued that the journalists indulge in playing hanky panky games with citizens lives, do so to curry promotion, relevance and inclusiveness in government. He, however, warned that the small python these persons, in the media and "relevant-seeking-politicians", have been feeding and/or shielding for decades will grow, come to consume the Yoruba race.

"Some section of Yoruba persons in the media are worse than the devil, they can paint the devil white in other to confuse the gullible. What they are feeding now will consume the Yoruba race in near future. Unless they stand up and report facts." Kanu warned in one of his broadcast in 2019.

Many Nigerians saw kanu's message as insult, derogatory to "their" Yoruba race, taunting his words as that of a drunkard, noise maker, miscreant and runaway fellow. And never heeded to the voice of reasoning then.

Today, the Fulani herdsmen have dominated almost ten LGA's of Oke, three in Abarapa and there is a mass influx of foreign herdsmen into the Yoruba land causing havoc. This is according to a report by the Ondo, Oyo governors respectively.

Like a prophecy fulfilled, Yoruba land is witnessing Fulani terrorists activities and seeking ways to curb it, thence the fracas between the Fulani presidency of Nigeria and Yoruba nation; Don't think its restricted to Ondo and Governor Akeredolu for the mission is becoming clear to all and sundry.

Like some Nigeria will say "Las las"! Kanu was always right.

Now! Majority of Yoruba people are now coming to terms with Kanu's stand - Dissolution of Nigeria through referendum - and have gone further in brokering strong ties with Kanu led IPOB but the underlying questions are:

* Will the rest of Yoruba people who, initially, disagreed with Kanu enhance their relationship now?

* Will the Yoruba and Biafra Nations respectively come to foster more relationship to combat the future cataclysm?

* Will the dyad correct the mistakes of Zik and Awo?

* Can the Yoruba Media live up to obligation and start reporting facts and reality of events in Nigeria
