Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry probing the infamous extra judicial killing of EndSARS protesters by the Nigerian Army at the Lekki tollgate had, on Saturday, approved the reopening of the tollgate; Four out of the nine members of the panel faulted the report of the forensic experts hired to comb the scene for evidence.
The news has however spiked massive reactions from Nigerians of whose majority are those proposing protest AGAINST reopening lekki gate until justice is delivered for victims of #LekkiTallGateMassacre
The Nigerian Army had on 20th October, 2020, opened fire on innocent #EndSARS protesters leaving scores of Nigerians dead. Although the military had denied killing anybody, forensic evidence indicts the Army.
Majority of Nigerian youths following the approval to reopen Lekki Tall Gate have scheduled another protest – #OccupyLekkiTollGate – on Saturday February 13, to demand that Lekki Tall Gate be locked until justice for victims of gruesome killing is achieved.
"This is their very idea of defending Lagos, but #OccupyLekkiTollGate we must until justice is served; until #BuhariMustGo #Buratai and @jidesanwoolu are brought before @IntlCrimCourt #EndSARS #nogoingback #RevolutionNow."_Omoyele Sowere said
Subsequently, few youths in Lagos State have announced their plans to organise, simultaneously, a counter-protest at the Lekki tollgate on Saturday, February 13.
This is coming a few hours after majority of Nigerian youths took to Twitter to call for a protest against the reopening of the Lekki tollgate.
The counter-rally – #DefendLagos and #DemNoBornYourPapaWell – is to protest against any protest organised to stop the reopening of the tollgate, tagged #OccupyLekkiTollGate.
The poster of counter-rally shared on social media showed that it is holding at the same venue and time as the one planned by the #OccupyLekkiTollGate protesters.
