In The Absence Of A Referendum, We're Ready To Pick Up Arms Against Nigeria State__Nnamdi Kanu Declares
The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu says the Biafran people are ready to pick up arms against the Nigeria state, adding that their demand for a referendum which will determine the fate of Biafrans in Nigeria is not forth coming.
Kanu's declaration sequels the recent military air strikes operation in Orlu, on Thursday February 18.
Videos seen by Journal Reporters during the week showed helicopters hovering around the town in search of the camps occupied by the Eastern Security Network personnel.
A spokesperson for the Nigerian army 34 artillery Brigade, Obinze, Owerri, Babatunde Zubairu, who confirmed the operation, said the locals were not being harassed.
The army spokesperson said that the operation was an spin-off of military intelligence.
Kanu, leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, had launched the ESN on December 12, 2020, saying the regional security outfit would help to tackle just like Amotekun in the South-West crimes and criminalities.
After the clash, Kanu accused Governor Hope Uzodinma of working with the army to "flush out and attack ESN officers from the bushes where they are operating."
On Friday, the Imo State Government said ESN operatives are hoodlums and would be treated as murderers by the government.
The State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Cyprian Akaolisa, said, "The Imo state government invited the military to flush out the hoodlums who call themselves ESN in Orlu."
According to Akaolisa, Kanu was endangering the people of the state by the activities of ESN In the area
Recent survey by SaharaReporters, however, shows that many people have been reportedly killed in the community following a clash between Nigerian army and ESN operatives since January 25.

IPOB has also accused the military of bringing war to Biafra land and systematically depleting Ndigbo under the guise of hunting ESN operatives.
Kanu, who took to his official Facebook handle on Saturday February 20, declares they "have the means and wherewithal" to restore Biafra.
He said, "Our demand for a referendum is now drawing closer to the point of moving on to urgent considerations of other options to restore Biafra. Our people are ready. We’ve the means & wherewithal. What remains is the hour - the hour of reclaiming our manifest destiny, unilaterally.
