Reno Omokri, a former media aide to ex president Goodluck Jonathan, has bemoaned southeast governors for keeping quiet over the ongoing military occupation of Orlu, a suburb of Imo State.
The Nigerian military on Thursday afternoon had deployed helicopter gunship in search of camps of Eastern Security Network. Video circulating on social media captured the military air striking some parts of the Orlu axis, causing anxiety as residents scamper for safety.
Despite the recent event, the Southeast governors has yet to speak on or, condemn the military excesses.
Reno, who took to his tweeter handle, explained that good leaders don't keep quiet when there people are under attack. He also said that although he may not like everything the leader of IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu does, but he respects him for his passionate love for his people.
Speaking on the basis for military search of ESN camps, Reno asked if ESN officials have ever kidnap, rape or kill anybody that would warrant such military operation on/after them.
He said, "Why are SE leaders not speaking or raising hell? I do not like everything Nnamdi Kanu does. But I respect him for his passionate love for his people. True leaders don’t keep quiet when their people are under attack. Where are the true leaders of the SE? Where?
"Have ESN been known to abduct, kill or rape? How many helicopters are searching for the abducted Kagara boys? How many troops are in Katsina forests? None, to the best of my knowledge. @MBuhari is too busy deploying them in Orlu, where no one has been abducted!
"The Defence Minister himself told Nigerians not to be cowards, and to face herdsmen and bandits. So, why send troops, artillery and helicopters to Orlu to neutralise ESN volunteers. ESN is doing exactly what the minister said. They are resisting herdsmen/bandits"
Reno went further to fault the Imo State governor as an incompetent fellow imposed on Imolites for northern aggrandizement, noting that ex governor, Ihedioha wouldn't have allowed such operation if in office
"If not for the Supreme Court Governor in Imo, the invasion of Orlu by troops, helicopters and artillery would not have happened. Emeka Ihedioha would never have allowed this. As bad as Rochas is, he would not allow this. Maybe this was why they wanted Uzodinma!"_Reno stated.
