The Executive Chairman Ethiope East Local Government Council, Rt.Hon.(Pharm) Ofobrukueta Victor, DSS, Army Police were today at the Urhuoka junction and Campus 3 express junction to address the protesting farmers.
The protesters who came out in numbers barricaded the busy Abraka/Ubiaruku road to express their displeasure over the incessant killings, raping and maiming of farmers by Notorious Herdsmen, Mr. Idigu Duke who spoke on behalf of the farmers said that "the killings has been going on for quite some time now, just last Sunday, a man and his two sons were killed on their way coming back from farm. we are here today to register our grevience and call on the State and federal government to come to our aid" he concluded.

The Executive Chairman assured them of speedy action, "I feel your pains, it's not easy to loss a loved one, and crops, Today I am here to assure you that the issue of notorious Fulani Herdsmen terrorising our people will be looked into, and I can assure you that in 48 hours, something will be done to nip the activities of these Herdsmen, Your greviences have been heard and necessary action will be taken, I plead that you remove the barricades and allow free flow of traffic" he concluded.
In response, the Farmers agreed to remove the barricades, we have heard you sir, as you have spoken, we will remove the barricades and wait for government intervention".
As at the time of filing this report, barricades has been removed and there is free flow of traffic along the road.
