The Executive Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma has said that the accused members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, were not responsible for the Owerri attack.
JournalReporters had earlier reported the attack on Imo State Correctional Centre in Owerri, by some unknown gunmen who freed about 2000 prisoners and carted guns away.
Police Headquarter in Owerri had after the incidence and without proper investigation and evidence, alleged that members of IPOB and ESN were perpetrators of the attack.
Responding in an interview on Channels TV on Wednesday, which was careful monitored by JournalReporters, Governor Hope Uzodimma confirmed that IPOB members were not responsible for the Owerri attack.
He said, "IPOB is not responsible for Owerri attack, I can categorically tell you. I did my investigation. It is not IPOB".
He rather admitted that some disgruntled politicians were behind the attack
"Disgruntled politicians, not IPOB, were responsible for Owerri jail break" Gov Uzodimma said
